How It Works

Devotionals arrive in your inbox once a week for 12 weeks. Each one pairs a Scripture reading with a hand-lettered verse from The Message Canvas Bible — ready for you to color, reflect on, and make your own. Nearly 300 hand-drawn illustrations and over 150 hand-lettered verses fill the Canvas Bible, and these devotionals give you a taste of that creative, meditative experience.

Each devotional in this twelve-week journey invites you to slow down and engage with Scripture in a hands-on way. A passage from The Message Canvas Bible arrives in your inbox, paired with a hand-lettered verse ready for coloring. As you fill the page with color, the words sink deeper, giving your hands something to do while your heart processes the message. This is not passive reading but active meditation, where drawing and coloring become forms of prayer. The experience is designed to help you hear God's voice speaking through the vivid language of the Scriptures, turning a simple email into a sacred moment of creativity and reflection.

The hand-lettered verses and hand-drawn illustrations within these devotionals are drawn directly from the pages of The Message Canvas Bible. Each week highlights a different design, giving you a small taste of the hundreds of original artworks that fill the full volume. You might find yourself coloring a single phrase over and over, letting its meaning settle into your mind and spirit. The act of coloring quiets distractions and opens space for contemplation. Over the course of twelve weeks, these creative encounters build into a habit of thoughtful engagement with God's story, one colorful page at a time.

These devotionals are more than just printable pages to fill with color. They are invitations to enter the story of God with your whole self—mind, heart, and hands. The vivid metaphors found in The Message translation come alive as you trace their letters and bring their backgrounds to life with your chosen palette. Each week builds on the last, guiding you through themes that reveal the arc of Scripture from beginning to end. You are not simply reading about God's story; you are coloring your way through it, making each verse your own as you meditate on its meaning and let it shape your imagination.

The experience is crafted for anyone who longs to connect with Scripture in a fresh, creative way. Whether you are an experienced artist or someone who has not picked up a colored pencil since childhood, these devotionals meet you where you are. The simple act of coloring a hand-lettered verse can quiet an anxious mind and focus a wandering heart. Over the twelve weeks, you build a personal collection of finished pages that reflect your own journey through the passages. Each completed design becomes a visual reminder of what God has spoken to you, a tangible keepsake of your time in the Word.
